Watch as new stand is installed ahead of Newbury FC’s Faraday Road homecoming

A new grandstand has been installed at Faraday Road this morning, as final preparations take place ahead of Newbury FC’s homecoming this Saturday.

The 50-seater stand was installed this morning adjacent to the changing rooms and shower facilities at the Faraday Road football ground.

Dugouts were installed on the opposite side of the pitch last week, with staff on site to prepare the playing surface ahead of this weekend’s homecoming.

Newbury FC will face Abingdon Town, affectionately known as The Abbotts, in the Berks and Bucks Cup.

The match will kick off at 2pm, with the official re-opening and speeches taking place at 1.30pm.

Food and drink will also be available from concession stands on the day.

The game will be the first at their spiritual home of Faraday Road since it closed 2018, with the ground having to be completely refurbished following a suspected arson attack in 2021.
