Tadley Calleva win nine-goal thriller thanks to Jordan Goater worldie
Tadley Calleva were involved in a second thrilling encounter in as many weeks, as they travelled to Sandhurst Town.
Seven days prior, Joe Lawler’s side came back from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Alton on the road.
This week saw another goal-fest, although the game did take a while to get going.
Sandhurst had an early chance, but saw a shot go just wide of the post in the fifth minute.
A second clear-cut chance followed, with Sandhurst having the better chances from a fairly even opening twenty minutes.
The half hour mark saw the breakthrough, as Tadley pounced on an error.
The hosts looked to play out from the back, but some good pressure from Tadley saw Jack French nick the ball inside the 18-yard box before firing home for 1-0.
It was all to play for in the second half, with Sandhurst still creating plenty of dangerous chances.
It was Tadley who made the perfect start however, as striker Kieran Rodgers was slipped in behind two defenders to double Calleva’s lead in clinical fashion.
The 51st minute saw Sandhurst begin their fightback, as a well worked move saw a line-breaking pass finished well for 2-1.
Just three minutes later, the sides were level.
A long ball forced a good save by Tadley keeper Donnie Burke, but the rebound was knocked in to level the scores.
In the 62nd minute Sandhurst dramatically pulled ahead, as a fluid passage of play cut Tadley apart for 3-2.
They made it four just a few minutes later, turning the game on its head completely with another well worked move.
With six minutes left of normal time, things looked bleak for Calleva.
Who better then, to step up and find a goal from nowhere, than Brett Denham.
Tadley’s all-time leading goalscorer tapped in a rebound for 4-3, beginning a fabulous comeback.
Two minutes later a long throw was cleared from the box, only to be met by Adam Everiss who slotted home to level the scores.
