Rocky Golby battles to national semi-final of England Boxing Junior Championships

Rocky Golby has made it to a national semi-final.

The Home Counties Junior Cadet Champion won his title against Ethan Gray last month, which sparked a great run in the England Boxing Junior Championships.

He beat Liam Tate from Taunton, the current Western Counties Champion, last weekend, setting up a clash with the Eastern Counties Champion.

His opponent, Kian Aragosa, was highly experienced for his age with 35 bouts to his name and only nine losses.

Turnpike-boxer Golby made sure that number became ten, as he triumphed via a 4-1 split decision.

15-year-old Golby started strongly and finished just as well, using his jab to great effect.

The victory at Peterborough’s Gladstone Park Community Centre sends Golby through to the semi-finals in Wigan this weekend.
