Newbury FC to return to Faraday Road on 9th November, with grandstand set to be installed
Newbury Football Club will play their first game back at Faraday Road on Saturday 9th November.
The news was confirmed by the club this week, marking the end of a years long process.
They’ll face Oxfordshire side Abingdon Abbotts in the Berks & Bucks Cup, with the club encouraging as many as possible to come along and support the Thames Valley Premier League side.
Food outlets and other concession stands are expected to be in place, with further details to be announced in due course.
The Faraday Road pitch has undergone a near total refurbishment, with changing rooms for teams and referees having been installed.
Showers have been plumbed in, while an electrical generator has been installed to provide power to the small facility.
Car parking for match officials and coaching staff has been allocated, alongside emergency access routes.
A fence has been erected around the perimeter of the pitch, providing a place for spectators to watch on.
There are still further developments to come, with a grandstand set to be constructed on 5th November.
Home and away dugouts are also set to be installed before the 9th.
Youth football has been played on the pitch since shortly after the refurbishment began, but this marks Newbury FC’s first game back at the site.
The club released the following statement via their social media channels:
“We are absolutely delighted to share the news that on the 9th November we will be returning to Faraday Road, the once heart and soul of Newbury Football Club, to play our Berks & Bucks Cup match against Abingdon Abbotts FC.
