Lambourn jockey Oisin Murphy taken to hospital following incident in the paddock at Salisbury
Leading flat jockey Oisin Murphy was taken to hospital after a dramatic incident in the paddock at Salisbury saw him crash into plastic railings.
Murphy was in the saddle of the Andrew Balding-trained Oasis Gift when the two-year-old took off in the paddock before the race.
The 26-year-old did his best to hang on, but he was unseated before hitting the railings nearby.
It was confirmed that the champion jockey walked slowly into the back of an ambulance and was taken to hospital.
Kingsclere trainer Balding confirmed that Murphy was conscious when talking to him, but he will require stitches after he suffered a busted lip.
The jockey holds a ride in Sunday's Arc de Triomphe - on Chrono Genesis - and is expected to fly out to Paris later this week.
Murphy did take to his Twitter after the incident to confirm that he has since been discharged from hospital.
