Handicap weights revealed for Nicky Henderson’s four Grand National entries

The official handicap weights for the Grand National were revealed on Tuesday afternoon at their annual event inside St George’s Hall, Liverpool.

Lambourn-based trainer Nicky Henderson has four entries for the world’s most famous steeplechase, and he’s hoping that elusive first Grand National success is just around the corner.

Chantry House looks like one of his better chances in the 2025 renewal.

He will get in the race with his rating of 154, and he’s in fine form having won a nice handicap at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.

At his peak, the JP McManus-owned 11-year-old held a rating of 160.

However, those golden years occurred a few seasons ago, but he could suit the stamina test of a Grand National nicely.

Hyland is the next in at the weights, but with his rating of 147, he is number 49 on the list.

That means 15 horses ahead of him would have to come out in order for him to run

However, if he did find a way of running, he’s a nice improving novice who is untested at this marathon trip.

His form alongside The Jukebox Man and Transmission has worked out nicely, and he is still unexposed.

Fantastic Lady has good experience over the National fences having finished second to Bill Baxter in the 2023 Topham and fifth to Gesskille in the 2023 Grand Sefton.

Again, she would need a few horses to come out in order to get a run off 144, but she has dropped down to a workable mark.

If she doesn’t run here, she could still tackle the National fences in something like the Topham Handicap Chase again.

Finally, Mister Coffey completes Henderson’s entries for the Grand National.

Remarkably, after 15 attempts, he is still a novice over fences.

He ran a good race behind Stumptown around the cross country course at Cheltenham in December, but can he break his duck in the big one?

He’d need a bit of luck to get into the race, but he’s a guaranteed stayer.
