Thatched barn plans to revamp old Boxford pub

Plans to develop the Bell at Boxford into a top restaurant have been submitted to West Berkshire Council.
It will be called The Boxford, and a modern, thatched, barn-style building is planned.
The developer’s sister company is the one behind the Woodspeen restaurant, and they say they want to bring a high quality, locally sourced restaurant to the area.
Applicants describe the dilapidated state of the original Bell Inn building, stating that a full refurbishment is not viable, but they are proposing a partial redevelopment of the site.
More than 80 locals turned up for a public viewing and discussion of the plans, which, says the applicant, were universally applauded to remove what is considered a local eyesore.
