Woman retires after more than 40 years at Theale company

A woman has celebrated her retirement after more than 40 years working for the same company.

Patricia McLellan, 81, started with Southern Housing, then known as James Butcher Housing Association, on March 1, 1982.

And to celebrate her retirement after decades of service at the company, her colleagues organised a special gathering at their premises in Elizabeth Court, Theale, on Tuesday, April 8.

Mrs McLellan originally started cleaning the residents’ flats and cooking meals for the residents, before becoming a laundry assistant.

“She will be sadly missed by colleagues and residents alike,” said her colleague and scheme housing officer, Victoria West.

“She has made a lot of friends there over the years. She was always ready with a smile and a chat when I popped in to see her.

“She will leave a hole behind her that will be impossible to fill.”

At the party, Mrs McLellan was congratulated on her retirement and for her exemplary service, both the company and the many residents in her time with Southern Housing.
