Woman in her 80s dies after crash on A34 near Newbury
A woman in her 80s was killed after a crash between a lorry and a car near Newbury yesterday (Sunday).
The 82-year-old woman – a passenger in a Galaxy Titanium – was pronounced dead at the scene on the A34 at Washwater.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were all call to the scene on the Berkshire/Hampshire border at 8.47am after reports of a crash between an articulated lorry and a car.
The driver of the car, an 81-year-old man, was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Hampshire Constabulary is now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
The A34 remained closed for much of yesterday after the crash.
Hampshire Constabulary said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision on the A34 [yesterday] (22 January).
"Despite the best effort of the emergency services, the passenger in the Galaxy, an 82-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who has information that may assist us. Were you on the road at the time? Perhaps you have dashcam footage?"
