Here’s what you need to know about West Berkshire roadworks to avoid getting stuck in delays or caught out by diversions this week
A busy West Berkshire road has been shut for the next two weeks after a sewer main burst.
Priors Court Road in Chieveley was shut at 9am yesterday (Monday) and is not expected to reopen until 5pm on Friday, April 4.
The closure is in place between the junction with Oxford Road and the junction with Long Lane.
The road will be shut 24 hours a day while sewer repairs are carried out.
This follows a burst rising main.
A diversion route will be signed on site and residential access will be maintained where possible.
A Newbury road is also shut while Thames Water carry out repairs to a visible leak.
Thames Water said the repairs on Castle Grove were necessary as there was “significant flow” from the leak.
The road was shut on Sunday (March 23) and is expected to reopen tomorrow (Wednesday).
A diversion is in place and residents will be allowed access when possible.
There will also be lane closures around the Burger King roundabout in Newbury next month, with more vegetation clearance taking place on the A339.
The restrictions will be in place from 9.30am until 3.30pm from Monday, April 7 until Wednesday, April 9.
Similar work was carried out at the Sainsbury’s roundabout last week, with a number of motorists contacting Newburytoday to complain about the traffic chaos it caused.
These works will be taking place during the school Easter holidays.
Also that week, Ashmore Green Road, in Cold Ash will be shut.
The closure will be in place from 8am on Monday, April 7, until 5pm on Friday, April 11.
The road will be shut between the junction of Cold Ash Hill and the junction of Bowling Green Road.
It is to allow for pre-surface dressing to be undertaken by Volker Highways, on behalf of West Berkshire Council.
Residential access will be maintained where possible and a diversion route will be signed in the area.
