Traditional pagan ritual to encourage a good crop for the coming year which features morris dancing, musket shooting and singing.

Saturday
Plastic free Thatcham mass unwrap, Co-op Thatcham, The Broadway, 10am to 12pm, free.
Shop, pay as normal, then unwrap food and put it straight into bags, boxes or re-useable containers. The plastic is collected up and put in empty trollies, to show how much waste is generated in a short space of time.
Meet the cast of The Little Mermaid, Kennet Shopping Centre, 2pm to 4pm, free.
Meet the cast of The Little Mermaid, an upcoming community production at the Corn Exchange, and get your photo taken with the Disney characters. They may perform a song or two as well.

The big dementia conversation event, Winchcombe Place Care Home, Maple Crescent, 2pm to 3.30pm, free.
Advice session teaching people about less well-known aspects of dementia, as well as why a loved one may be behaving differently and what family carers can do to support them.
Wednesday
Welford Park snowdrops, January 31 to March 3, 11am to 4.30pm, adults £12 and children £5.
Come and see the swathes of snowdrops, hellebores, aconites and winter flowering shrubs. The snowdrops thrive amongst the 5-acre beech wood, on the riverbanks of the River Lambourn and in the formal garden of Welford Park.
