During the ceremony, which starts at 10am, West Berkshire Council chairman Cllr Keith Chopping will read out a specially-written Commonwealth Affirmation outside the council offices in Market Street.
500 flags will go up across the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man today.
As well as this, teams from Cancer Research UK, Help for Heroes, Walking with the Wounded and Fields of Life will mark the day by taking Commonwealth flags to the top of the UK’s highest peaks – Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, Mount Snowdon and Slieve Donard.
