West Berks friends look for headshave sponsorship
Dave Quincey from Newbury and his friend Guy Sargent from Thatcham are trying to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Fibromyalgia Association.
Over the weekend of May 3 and 4, the pair will be in Tesco in London Road, where Mr Quincey works, selling merchandise and taking donations for their charities.
Then at about 1pm on the Sunday, the pair will have their heads shaved.
Mr Sargent has long hair, which will be sent off to the Little Princess Trust, a charity to provide real hair wigs for children with cancer.
As well as fundraising on the weekend, charity boxes are also currently in and around the Newbury area for people to donate – they are at De La Cruz Hair and Beauty and Broadway Blooms in Thatcham, The Edge in Hungerford and the burger van in the B&Q car park and the Narrow Boat pub in London Road.
Mr Quincey said that he was raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support as a friend had had facial cancer and that his best friend currently had rectal cancer and he felt it was time once again to give back to the nurses.
Mr Sargent wanted to raise funds for the Fibromyalgia Association as he suffers from the condition.
The pair will be at Tesco from 9am until 5pm on May 3 and from 10am until 4pm on May 4.
In the past, Mr Quincey raised more than £3,000 for MacMillan and said he hoped to do just as well this time around.
