Woolton Hill Post Office and shop closed after overnight break in




A North Hampshire village shop was forced to close today (March 2) after it was broken into overnight.

The Woolton Hill Post Office and Stores, located on the corner of Douglas Ride and Broadlayings, was seen taped off this morning with a note outside notifying customers of the break in.

Police are currently investigating the burglary, which happened in the early hours of this morning at around 12.30am.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "A group of unknown people forced entry, stealing a small amount of cash and quantity of cigarettes.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information which could assist our investigation can call 101, quoting the reference 44230084742, or submit information via our website."

The note on the front of the shop notifying customers of the closure reads: "Dear all, shop break in last night.

"Therefore, due to further investigation, the shop & post office will be closed today."

Shop staff declined to comment on the current circumstances surrounding the break in.
