Woolton Hill Post Office and Stores applies for security shutter following break in
A North Hampshire village shop has applied for permission to install a security shutter on its front door after it was broken into two months ago.
The Woolton Hill Post Office and Stores, located on the corner of Douglas Ride and Broadlayings, was burgled in the early hours of Thursday, March 2, at around 12.30am.
In response to the incident, the convenience store has now applied for planning permission to install a security shutter on its main entrance.
Police investigated the overnight break in following the incident.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said at the time: “A group of unknown people forced entry, stealing a small amount of cash and quantity of cigarettes.
“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information which could assist our investigation can call 101, quoting the reference 44230084742, or submit information via our website.”
Although the shop was taped off and was forced to close on March 2, it re-opened the following day.
Upon re-opening, a member of staff said the break in was “a very nasty experience” but “things were back to normal”.
The planning application can be viewed on Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s planning portal by searching reference 23/00994/FUL.
