Two weeks in and Aldi seeks to extend opening hours

The London Road store has applied to increase its opening hours on bank holidays.
Currently, the store’s planning permission restricts bank holiday trading to between the hours of 10am to 5pm, however is seeking to see these hours extended to between 8am and 8pm.
The store has permission to trade from 8am to 9pm on weekdays and Saturdays.
A statement posted on West Berkshire Council's website by the store’s planning agent Turley Associates reads: “The nominal change to opening hours, which remains less than the maximum permitted trading hours on weekdays and Saturdays, will not be excessive or cause materially significant impact to nearby residential uses or properties.
“We consider that this condition will continue to provide an appropriate means of restricting the operation of the store in a manner that will continue to safeguard the amenity of nearby residents.”
A decision is expected from West Berkshire Council by June 18.
