TV personality Chris Tarrant recovering in hospital from mini-stroke

Speaking to NewburyToday this morning (Weds), Mr Tarrant’s manager Paul Vaughan said: “We can confirm that, having been taken ill on a flight from Thailand to London Heathrow on Saturday, March 1, from which he was taken to hospital, Chris Tarrant has been diagnosed as having suffered a mini-stroke.
“He is making an excellent recovery and will be discharged in a day or so.
“He is hugely grateful for all the care he has received at Charing Cross [Hospital] and for all the kind wishes that he has been receiving on a daily basis.”
Mr Vaughan said that the medical episode was initially thought to be related to Mr Tarrant’s asthma, particularly as the presenter was recovering from bronchitis.
He also quashed rumours that had been circulating in the national press that Mr Tarrant had been rushed for emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his leg.
Mr Tarrant is being seen to by the same consultant that treated broadcaster Andrew Marr who suffered a major stroke in January 2013.
The presenter is regular visitor to the area. In August he hosted Chris’s Chapel Row Cup Challenge at the annual Chapel Row Fayre, and in July he opened new play equipment at Brimpton Primary School.
