Tilehurst Cafe wins Cafe of the Year at 2022 Prestige Awards

A new breakfast and brunch café has won Café of the Year at this year's Prestige Awards.

Switch Café is a recent addition to Tilehurst and was recognised for its contributions to the London and South East Regions.

The Prestige Awards recognise the accomplishments of small and medium sized businesses across the UK and internationally over the past 12 months.

Owner, Zak Khan, said: "We've only been going a year, so it's amazing to even be recognised.

"Initially, customers will nominate you and once the awarding body has got enough information to say a place has something going for it, they'll look at your social media, Google reviews and background of whose involved.

"It was a quite rigorous process, but it was amazing to have won and got recognition.

"As clichéd as it sounds, without the customers we wouldn't have got to where we are now.

"Our staff have also played a massive part in this, they're all brilliant and passionate about what they do.

"We've got a great chef team, they're experts at what they do, if anything they're overqualified.

"We've got a bit of a plan in place, opening to other sites in the coming months I'd say. We're just about top-notch ingredients that are expertly prepared and provided to customers at an affordable price."
