The Wild West comes to Newbury

The Volunteer Centre West Berkshire is holding its annual volunteer recruitment show in Newbury tomorrow (Saturday)

NEWBURY-BASED charity, Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, is holding its annual volunteer recruitment show once again tomorrow (Saturday).

About 35 organisations are due to attend the ‘Big Wild West Berkshire Volunteering Show' at The Corn Exchange, Newbury, which has been supported by Jones Robinson, the Berkshire Community Foundation and the Newbury Weekly News.

The annual event last year contained a Volunteering Odyssey theme and was attended by nearly 40 local charities and organisations; it has previously been successful in recruiting volunteers for a variety of different organisations.

Volunteer Centre West Berkshire director, Garry Poulson, said he was hoping for similar success this year.

He said: “January is always our busiest month as many people turn their mind to doing something new.

“With 35 different organisations under one roof, this is a great opportunity to meet different people and find out about different charities in an unpressurised environment.”

Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to go along to the event, which runs from 10am until 3pm.
