Thatcham Town Council supports hospital renal unit plans

At a meeting of its planning committee last week, members agreed to officially support the application, rather than raising no objections as is the usual protocol.
The Newbury and Thatcham Hospital Buildings Trust has applied for permission to build a two-storey renal dialysis unit at the Thatcham hospital.
If approved, it will be built in the hospital’s grounds in Rooke’s Way, providing 10 renal stations for the some 20 patients who currently have travel to Reading’s Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment.
Last week, Newbury Town Council also agreed to support the application.

A decision is expected from West Berkshire Council by mid-October.
