Thatcham school explores the world of books





Former children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson and Roald Dahl were the focus of the activities and competitions, which included designing a book cover for their favourite Dahl story.
On the Friday, children and staff came dressed as their favourite characters.
Outfits ranged from Willy Wonka, Matilda, Mr. Fox, the Oompa Loompas, The giraffe, The Roly Poly bird as well as pirates, Gruffalo's and crocodiles.
At the junior school in the afternoon, Newbury MP Richard Benyon, attended to read to the children and explain why reading was so important.
Library manager, Tracey Cole, said: "The day has proved to be a great success."
