Thatcham community centre undergoes facelift
Volunteers pitch in to revamp Moorside
THATCHAM’s Moorside Community Centre has undergone a revamp.
Members of Thatcham Youth teamed up with volunteers from TalkMobile and Wickes, which also provided paint and equipment.
The team completed the bulk of the painting work at the Urquhart Road facility, including the sports hall.
The work will benefit Thatcham Pre-school, the Reintegration Service and members of the public, or local groups, who can hire Moorside for events.
Thatcham Youth chairman Bob Morgan said: “I was very impressed by the hard work done by Tina and the team from TalkMobile – and our own Dan and David Carter.
“The painting was done on a very hot day and it was hot and sweaty work.
“It has really improved the inside and outside of the Moorside centre, making it a nicer place for local people to use.”
Organiser of the event and Thatcham Youth youth club manager, Dan Carter, said: “It really was a great day with lots of work being done and giving the centre a fresh new look.
“There is still some more work to do, however, the bulk it of it has been done thanks to the hard work of TalkMobile volunteers and Wickes of Newbury, so a huge thank you must go to them.”
Moorside Community Centre is used by Thatcham Youth to run its Vision Youth Club for eight- to 12-year-olds and is soon to launch free movie evenings and Inters Youth Club for 12- to 15-year- olds.
