Suspicious blaze rips through Hermitage garden centre





Watch manager of Green Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Richard Young, said two pumps from Newbury were called at 3am to Roots garden centre, Priors Court Road.
Flames were coming out of the porch roof on arrival and the fire had also spread into the adjoining building, a single storey cafe.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hosereels to extinguish the blaze.
The porch was completely destroyed and the adjoining building twenty five per cent destroyed and smoke damaged.
No-one was hurt.
Firefighters left the scene at 5.30am.
Police are investigating the incident.
