Stockcross Church of England School rated good by Ofsted
A Stockcross primary school has maintained its good school rating following a recent Ofsted inspection.
Stockcross Church of England School was visited by representatives of the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills on Tuesday, February 15.
The school was particularly praised for the staff’s individual knowledge of the children, its focus on teaching phonics and reading skills, and the school’s well-planned curriculum with high expectations for its pupils.
Stockcross acting executive head teacher Lynne Valentine said: “It’s been a challenging time for every school recently but we’ve worked really hard together as a team to put the children first.
“We’re really pleased that Ofsted could see all of that hard work that we have put into the school.”
Stockcross was also praised for the well-behaved nature of its students, the school’s organisation of extra-curricular activities and the staff’s attentiveness to children who require extra support.
The only area in which Ofsted deemed the school needs to improve is in the depth of its teaching in certain subjects, such as computing.
Stockcross Church of England School enrols all its children in the scouts programme as part of its enrichment curriculum, which involves pupils taking part in Scouting activities on a Friday afternoon, a decision that also impressed Ofsted inspectors.
As Stockcross has maintained its good school rating, it won’t be due another inspection until approximately four years from now in 2026.
