Pub hands over £1,700 to West Berkshire Mencap
REGULARS at the Starting Gate pub’s weekly quiz presented a cheque for £1,700 to West Berkshire Mencap this week.
The quiz, run by husband-and-wife team Nick and Ali Green, encouraged quizzers to donate every week to the chosen charity of the pub’s owners Claire and Shellie Seymour.
Landlady Claire Seymour said: “Thank you to everyone who comes to the quiz week in, week out and raised this money for this amazing charity.
“We choose a different charity every year and this is the most we’ve ever raised.
“We chose West Berkshire Mencap as we like to support good causes in the local community and they have been coming in every Wednesday for five years.”
West Berkshire Mencap chief executive Leila Ferguson said: “We are so grateful for this money which will help people with learning disabilities to have a better life.
“The Starting Gate have been so welcoming to us and very supportive.”
