Newbury stalker Colin McKay made subject to mental health treatment order
A STALKER has been ordered to undergo mental health health treatment.
Colin McKay appeared for sentencing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 21.
At a previous hearing, the 58-year-old, of Parsons Close, Newbury, denied intimidating Natasha Lloyd, knowing or believing she was a witness in legal proceedings, by asking her to drop the charges, thereby obstructing or perverting the course of justice, in Newbury on Wednesday, October 23.
However, he admitted stalking Ms Lloyd by sending letters, following her to work and, on one occasion, asking her to drop the case against him, in Newbury between September 13 and October 23.
Magistrates consequently dismissed the charge of perverting the course of justice but proceeded with the stalking case.
They ordered pre-sentence reports and stipulated these be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.
At Friday’s hearing District Judge Samuel Goozee made McKay subject to an 18-month community order with a 12-month mental health treatment requirement.
In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.
Finally, Judge Goozee made McKay subject to an 18-month restraining order preventing him from contacting Ms Lloyd, either directly or indirectly.
