Staff see to it that retiring Newbury optician has a good send-off

Bill Huggins (pictured), aged 64, joined the ranks at the Newbury branch in August 1966, and since then has had a regular stream of clients, many of whom he has treated for their entire lives.
However, he said that he was looking forward to spending more quality time with his family, enjoying long, relaxing holidays, pursuing his hobbies of golf and bowls and challenging himself to baking his own bread.
His colleague, Adriana Roberts, said: “He has become part of so many families’ lives.
“He’s got many families of two or three generations who have all come to see him for years, from the young age of three, all those years ago when he first joined our practice.
“As a practice we have received so many messages from his patients.
“He is a huge source of knowledge and experience to all of us and such a valued member of the team.
“We will miss a lot but wish him nothing but the best for the future and a great retirement.”
