Specialist hair care for cancer patients offered at Newbury hairdressers

Toni&Guy Newbury have joined with Macmillan Cancer Support to offer men, women and children specialist support and advice on hair loss as part of their new Strength in Style initiative.
Style consultant at Toni&Guy, Vicki-Jane O’Driscoll, said: “We’ve learnt that for some people hair loss can be one of the hardest parts of cancer treatment, so we’re very excited to provide such an important service to people affected by cancer in the local community.”
Staff at the salon have undergone intensive training to help them deal with the emotional and practical issues surrounding the sensitive nature of hair loss and thinning owing to cancer treatment. This also includes specialist training on wig fitting and styling.
Corporate account manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, Sharon Cottam, said: “We are very excited about our partnership with Toni&Guy.
“Hair loss can have a huge impact on a person undergoing cancer treatment, and their relationship with a hairdresser is extremely personal.
“Strength in Style will help us in our ambition to reach and improve the lives of people affected by cancer by giving them the strength and confidence to have more good days.”
The staff at Toni&Guy Newbury will be fundraising throughout the year to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and are hosting ‘A really good night in’ on May 7, and running in the Bayer 10K fun run on May 26.
