Smoke alarm alerts Newbury family to washing machine blaze

Watch manager of Green Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Richard Young, said two pumps were called at 6.30am to a house in St Nicholas Road,
The blaze was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hosereel.
The washing machine was destroyed in the fire.
No-one was hurt, after the family evacuated the property, having been alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm.
The washing machine was destroyed in the fire and firefighters used high pressure ventilation fans to clear the property of smoke.
The incident was closed at 7.30am.
