She's done it again!

Composer hits Classic FM chart for the second year

YES, she’s done it again! Local composer Fiona Bennett has managed to get both her classical albums voted into one of the biggest classical music charts in the world. “I was packing to go away on honeymoon when I heard my name announced on the radio,” said Fiona. “So I stopped throwing clothes into the suitcase in order to hear Classic FM play A Lad and a Lass from the album A Country Suite. It was very exciting to know I was in the chart for a second year running.”

The Classic FM Hall of Fame is chosen by the public and there are only 300 pieces in the chart, so Fiona felt especially lucky to hear her name a second time when The New Lady Radnor Suite was announced. “Melissa (Lady Radnor) and I were both school mums together and I knew that Hubert Parry had dedicated ‘Lady Radnor’s Suite to Helen, the wife of the 5th Earl of Radnor, so I asked if I might compose a new and more modern suite for her. She is thrilled to be the only living countess with her very own album in the charts.”

Fiona worked tirelessly to advertise her music by Tweeting, emailing and sending messages on Facebook and she would like to thank everyone who voted for her music. “To have one album in the chart would be fantastic,” she says, “but to hear they have both been voted in was just amazing. I set off on my Danube cruise with a big smile on my face and was able to relax for the whole week.”

A Country Suite and ‘The New Lady Radnor Suite are both available to buy from Amazon and to download from both Amazon and iTunes.
