The 44-year-old, of Chestnut Walk, off Coldharbour Road, Hungerford, admitted six shoplifting offences from the same store – the town’s Fairview Road One Stop.

All the offences involved the theft of £10 worth of beer on various dates last November.

Little, who was legally represented by Sally Thomson, also has previous convictions.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with an alcohol treatment requirement.

In addition, he was ordered to pay a £40 fine.

No order was made for costs because of Little’s lack of means but he was required to pay £60 compensation in lieu of an otherwise statutory victim services surcharge.

Finally, he was made subject to an order excluding him from the Fairview Road One Stop for six months.
