Enborne Primary School near Newbury celebrates continued ‘Outstanding’ success
A primary school near Newbury continues to be ‘Outstanding’.
Enborne Primary School, inspected by Ofsted in December, has maintained its overall effectiveness since its last inspection before the pandemic.
The inspectors’ report praised the school in multiple areas, commenting that “pupils are friendly, welcoming and polite” and that “parents and carers are equally positive” about their children’s experience.
It read: “Pupils thrive in the school’s mixed-age classes.
“They enjoy the school’s unique curriculum, which meets their needs well and goes beyond the national curriculum.”
It added there are a wide range of extra opportunities for pupils of all ages, such as annual visits to London and theatres.
Responding to the report, headteacher Tristan Whiteman said: “It’s quite a lot of stress going into Ofsted, but we were absolutely delighted.
“It validated all of our own self evaluations of where we thought we were and what we thought we were doing for the pupils and community, so that was great.”
And going forwards, he added: “The main thing is to maintain the vision we have been told we are providing, and that we’re very proud of, and to keep those standards going.”
The school currently enrols 82 pupils.
Since September, Ofsted inspections no longer provide an overall effectiveness grade.
The school was inspected to ensure it has maintained the standards identified at its previous inspection, known as an ungraded inspection.
Ofsted does not give graded judgements on an ungraded inspection.
