Kennet School reaches out to future pupils
Kennet School is running programmes to connect with its future pupils, writes Kyra Radley.
The secondary school wants to inspire a desire for wider learning in year five pupils so is beginning to host a series of free masterclasses across a range of subjects which include PE, science, drama, music and maths.
The school hopes to broaden the scope of what education can look like for primary school students and excite them for what is to come as they move onto secondary schools.
Headteacher Grace Rigg said: "Primary masterclasses aim to open the eyes of young people to the excitement, beauty, and value of education.
"We want to ignite a sense of curiosity and wonder in our Year 5 participants, empowering them to continue their educational journey with enthusiasm and confidence.
“While these events are for the children, we also offer parent carer tours and an open morning, allowing them to experience our school first-hand themselves."
These masterclasses will be offered to pupils through their primary schools but parents or careers can apply online at Kennet School’s website for open mornings and tours.
The school notes that spaces are limited so families are encouraged to book early in advance.
