Kennet Sixth Form celebrates record-breaking Oxbridge success
Four sixth form students at Kennet School in Thatcham have been offeredplaces at two of the country’s most prestigious universities.
Lucy Farmer has been offered a place to study English at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, while Clara Stafford will study linguistics at King’s College, Cambridge.
Meanwhile, Lily Hopwood will pursue history at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, and Henry Morgan has been accepted to study computing at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Headteacher Grace Rigg said their achievement marks a record-breaking year for the school.
Celebrating the students’ success, Ms Rigg said: “This is an extraordinary achievement and we are incredibly proud of Lucy, Lily, Henry and Clara.
“Gaining a place at Oxford or Cambridge requires exceptional academic ability, commitment and resilience.
“Their success is a testament to their hard work, the support of our dedicated staff and the thriving academic environment at Kennet.”
This year’s cohort are the first to go through the Kennet Academic Scholars programme.
Students have benefitted from one-to-one sessions with an academic, as well as visits to universities.
All participants on the programme have received Russell Group university offers.
