Park Street shut due to safety concerns over loose roof tiles

A Newbury road has been shut after roof tiles became loose on a building.

The emergency closure was put in place today (Wednesday) on Park Street and runs until April 1.

The road is closed along its entire length from Northbrook Street down to Park Way.

One end of the Parkway Shopping centre, including the new Primark store, which is set to open next month, also backs on to Park Street.

The emergency order cites safety concerns as the reason for the closure.

A scaffolding company is currently managing the works.
