Redundant Cold Ash pumping station up for auction today (Mon)
The station, which is located in Fishers Lane, will be auctioned by Savills with a reserve price of £170,000. It is currently owned by Thames Water and sits on a 2.13-acre plot.
The pumping station, which comprises a single brick building and is accessed by a gravel path on Fishers Lane, has a gross external area of approximately 1,290 sq ft and currently sits vacant.
The building itself contains two, 400ft bore holes, that used to supply water into the water networks.
However, this source of water is no longer used and the building has been redundant for many years.
Initial discussions between Thames Water, Savills and West Berkshire Council have focussed on the possibility of extending the building to form a four-bedroom house.
Alec Arrol from Savills said: "The overall approach is to bring the Cold Ash Pumping Station back to beneficial use and make the most of the aesthetics and industrial element of the original fabric.
“In order to bring the building into residential use only a small extension is proposed, to the rear of the building."
The lot, number 127, will be auctioned today (Mon).
