Rainbow walkers face rain to raise money for Ugandan pupils

The youngsters had made wings, donned deely boppers and carried glow sticks for their illuminated ‘love bug’ walk, raising money for two friends in Uganda who they sponsor to attend school.
Unit leader Tracey Gillingham said: “Both the parents and the Rainbows were amazing to do the walk, during the day the weather had been exceptionally bad but by some miracle the wind and rain eased a fraction for just long enough to allow us to complete the walk.
“We all then returned happily to the warmth of the lodge for hot chocolate and cake and finished off with some singing.
“We don't yet know how much we have raised for Uganda but I am sure they have all done very well – they usually do.”
