The 23-year-old, of The Haywards, Thatcham, appeared in the dock at Reading magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 19.

There, he pleaded guilty to possessing the Zombie knife in private in Thatcham on January 21.

Zombie-style knives and machetes are defined as weapons with blades over eight inches (20cm) in length, normally with a serrated cutting edge.

Cockcroft further admitted sending a grossly offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing WhatsApp message to Matthew and Lorraine Hudson in West Berkshire on October 24 last year.

Magistrates made him subject to an 18-month community order with a psychiatric treatment requirement.

Cockcroft, who was legally represented by Sally Thomson, was also fined £100.

Next he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.

Finally, Cockcroft was made subject to a restraining order preventing him from contacting the Hudsons.

The order will last until September 18, 2026.
