Stockcross Primary School unveils new £25,500 ICT suite
Stockcross Primary School has unveiled its new £25,500 ICT suite fully equipped with laptops, portable charging bays, foldable furniture and an interactive whiteboard.
The money for the new digital learning space was raised by the school’s PTFA through the completion of various fundraising challenges.
Deputy headteacher Neal Murray said: “The shared learning area is a fabulous learning environment that all the teachers and pupils can use for many different purposes.
“It has been a fantastic effort from the whole school community to get this completed and is a wonderful resource that will be used for many years to come.”
The fundraising for the new suite took place using The Good Exchange fundraising platform, spurred on by a grant of £5,000 match funding from Greenham Trust.
A team of eight parents, teachers and governors sought sponsorship completed the Wokingham Half Marathon for sponsorship money.
Meanwhile, pupils were sponsored to run laps of Stockcross Recreation Ground until, as a team, they completed the equivalent distance of three ultra-marathons.
An auction of promises at the school’s summer fete continued to get it closer to the target, and donations from Benham Estate, Donnington Grove, The Red House, Barbary Shooting School, Northway Climbing Centre and Belvoir, to name a few, were all enthusiastically bid for.
Further grants from the Gerald Palmer Eling Trust, Speen Parish Council and the Jeremiah Colman Gift Trust got the PTFA over the line.
Stockcross Primary PTFA co-chair Sarah Martin said: “We are so grateful to everyone who supported this project.
“It is wonderful to see the new shared learning area come together and be such a smart, versatile and useful space in the heart of the school building.
“It is in constant use for IT lessons, small group work, meetings and events and has significantly enriched the learning environment at Stockcross Church of England Primary School.”
