Newbury Artisan Market on Northbrook Street ‘highly unlikely’ to take place in March 2025

Organisers of a popular Newbury market have said “it is highly unlikely” that their first event planned for 2025 will take place.

The Newbury Artisan Market dominates Northbrook Street in the town centre on the last Sunday of every month and is packed with small business traders.

Renartgades, organiser of the market, announced on social media that the first Newbury Artisan Market of 2025 that was due to take place in March will probably not go ahead.

The Renartgades team of Libby and Chloe said: “Unfortunately, it is now highly unlikely that there will be a Newbury Artisan Market in March 2025.

“This news is as upsetting and disappointing to us as I’m sure it is to you.

“We have been working hard since September last year to get everything in order to begin the market again in March despite complications we have come up against.

“Whilst these delays are predominantly out of our hands, we wanted to keep our awesome traders up to date so they also had enough notice to be able to find other markets to trade at.

“Running a small business is tough, and this can be tougher when you don’t have a consistent presence.

“The last thing we want is to negatively impact our awesome traders, but unfortunately this is not in our power.”

The Renartgades team also encouraged shoppers to continue supporting small businesses in the market’s absence.

They said: “Please do find your favourite small business owners, go on their website and continue to shop small wherever you can.

“Every order really does help so much, and is so appreciated.”

They also said they were still working to organise other markets and events throughout the year.
