Police to discuss budget savings

The Thames Valley Police Authority will meet next month to decide where savings will be made in the police budget

THE THAMES Valley Police Authority will meet next month to decide where more than £50m of budget savings will be made.

More than 800 jobs could be axed at Thames Valley Police as the force aims to save £52m over the next four years, although the chief constable, Sara Thornton, has previously said she would do all she could to minimise the impact on the visible front-line policing service.

The full police authority meeting is due to take place at 9am on Friday, February 18, at the Thames Valley Police headquarters in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
