Thames Valley Police appeal after man assaults woman and kicks dog in Thatcham
A man has been arrested for assaulting a woman and kicking her dog in Thatcham.
At around 6pm on Sunday, the victim, a woman in her thirties, was walking her Staffordshire bull terrier on the canal towpath towards Moorside Park.
A man approached and assaulted the victim, and continued to act aggressively as they walked across the footbridge that crosses the railway to Kennet Heath.
The man has also kicked the dog in the ribs as they walked across the bridge.
A 44-year-old man from Thatcham has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and battery, and has been released on bail.
Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses, and said it believes a couple were walking by around this time, and would like them to come forward.
Investigating officer PC Darren Galbraith, based at Newbury police station, said: “We are appealing for any witnesses that may have seen the incident to come forward.
