PICTURES: Woolton Hill gets into the Halloween spirit with ‘stellar’ scarecrow trail running this half term
A North Hampshire village has become home to a wide variety of fun and spooky scarecrows this half term.
The Schools of Woolton Hill launched its impressive scarecrow trail on the weekend, marking the third year running that the popular autumn activity has gone ahead.
There are several homemade scarecrows dotted around Woolton Hill, and anyone can take part in the trail to try and find them all.
The Schools of Woolton Hill head teacher Paul Davies said: “Locals in the village and surrounding areas all look forward to seeing what scarecrows households create.
“The people that take part really put a lot of effort in and the standard of scarecrow-making has really stepped up a notch this year. Every scarecrow is guaranteed to make you smile.”
Anyone who wants to take part in the trail can purchase a map at the Woolton Hill Village Stores for £3 per family (cash only).
All proceeds will go towards equipment for the school, with a focus on continuing to build up the facilities of the new outdoor classroom that launched earlier this year.
The trail ends on Sunday, November 3, the final day of half term for many schools in the area.
Mr Davies added: “I want to say a huge thank you to The Friends of Woolton Hill PTA Group who give up their time to raise money for the school.
“Everything they do helps ensure our children get the best education and experience possible. They’ve really done a stellar job this half term.
“We are all extremely excited to take part and see the amazing scarecrows on display.”
A prize for the best scarecrow will be announced in the week commencing November 4 on The Schools of Woolton Hill’s Facebook page.
