Boots in Northbrook Street, Newbury offering covid-19 vaccinations

A new site offering Covid-19 vaccinations is now live in Newbury.

Boots UK launched its vaccination site at its Northbrook Street store on Saturday, May 8.

The vaccine will be administered by Boots pharmacists as the retailer supports NHS England in vaccinating the nation.

Boots programme director for vaccines Nick Sunderland said: “Our pharmacy team in Newbury are hugely excited by the opportunity to help their local community by offering the Covid-19 vaccine instore.

"We are incredibly proud to be supporting the NHS to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations – our stores are conveniently located and accessible.

"We look forward to welcoming patients over the coming days and weeks.”

Boots opened its first vaccination site in Halifax in January.

Boots has presented a model for Covid-19 vaccinations to be administered in its stores, aligned with exceptional safety, clinical and operational standards.

Any customer who has their vaccination with Boots will have the service done by a trained pharmacist.

Patients will be invited directly by the NHS to book their Covid-19 vaccination appointment at the Boots Newbury pharmacy.

The opening of the Boots site follows news that the vaccination hub at Newbury Racecourse will close in June.

The hub, run by GPs from nine district surgeries, said it was being wound down to allow staff to "focus on providing core primary care services from practices again now that life is beginning to return to some level of normality".

The hub said that another vaccination site is being set up in the Kennet Shopping centre.
