Person hit by train and rail services between Taunton and Reading cancelled or delayed




Train services running between Taunton in Somerset and Reading have been cancelled or delayed after a person was hit by a train.

The news was announced by Great Western Railway at about 3pm today (Saturday), and will affect Newbury trains.

The incident is believed to have taken place between Westbury and Newbury, although a spokesperson from GWR refused to confirm the location.

The operator tweeted: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Taunton and Reading.

"This means all lines are blocked.

"Train services running through these stations will be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or diverted between Taunton and Reading."

The Taunton to Reading line runs through Wiltshire, with stops including Frome, Westbury, Hungerford, Newbury and Thatcham.
