Pangbourne Classic Car Show drives in £10,000 for charities
More than £10,000 has been raised for good causes by a charity car show, writes Grace Clift.
The seventh annual Pangbourne Classic Car show was the biggest show to date, with more than 370 vehicles on display.
They included the 1904 Oldsmobile and the latest Lamborghini Revuelto.
The show raised over £10,000 for the Footsteps Foundation and the Pangbourne College Community Fund.
Organiser Tom Cheney, from Pangbourne School, started the show back in 2016 with two purposes in mind: firstly to showcase the evolution of motoring to the pupils taking part in the car restoration activity he runs at the college and secondly to raise money for local charities that support children.
Mr Cheney added: “I am so proud of our small event and how it has grown to become such a lovely event enjoyed by so many.
“I must pay thanks to all of the volunteers who help marshall on the day, as you can imagine having 370 cars to park between 8am and 10am takes some doing!
“Also to our wonderful sponsors; their support of the event enabled it to happen. Finally, to all of the amazing people who brought their cars to show on the day – these fantastic machines really do make the display a special place to walk around and admire.”
Over the past seven years, the show’s popularity has grown and masses of car fans have visited to see the vehicles, displayed in make and age order.
For the past seven years the show has supported Footsteps Foundation, a charity supporting children with neurological conditions, and over the past three years, it has also supported the Pangbourne College Community Fund.
In addition to the more than 370 vehicles on display, Sporting Bears brought 30 vehicles giving people dream rides in the Berkshire countryside, which once again proved to be very popular.
Organisers said they were proud of the sheer variety of cars on show, including some incredibly rare classics.
The show was supported this year by Kingdom Coffee, Aston Martin Reading and Lamborghini Pangbourne, who have been with the show since concept. This year they were joined by Howden Insurance, Elliott James Consulting and The Fine Car Company, who held a small auction at the show.
The Pangbourne Classic Car Show will return on May 31, 2025.
