On your marks for the Kintbury 5, 2025
THIS year's Kintbury 5, a popular, ‘fun and friendly’ local running event, is scheduled for Sunday, May 18.
Starting at 10am from the village’s Jubilee Centre, the race will take runners for five miles along quiet roads and through the stunning countryside - on private land which is not usually accessible.
Organisers say the race is suitable for all abilities and, whether it is your first running event or if you are a seasoned runner, everyone is welcome.
There will be medals for all participants and refreshments and cakes will be available to buy on the day to refuel.
In addition to the main five mile race, which is open to anyone age 15 years and above, children's races will take place before the main event at 9.30am and a two mile race, which is open to adults and any children age 10 or above, will set off just after the start of the 5five mile run.
Participants can enter the five mile run in advance at https://kintburyrunningrace.co.uk/ or via EventEntry.
Children's races and the two mile race can be entered on the day from 8.30am.
Organised by the Kintbury St Mary' School PTA with the help of local volunteers, the annual event raises much needed funds to support the children at Kintbury St Mary's Primary School, providing essential resources which would otherwise not be available.
Last year's run raised more than £3,000 and attracted over 200 runners.
Organisers hope to achieve similar numbers this year.
