Newbury’s new London Road B&M applies for alcohol licence




A national discount store, soon coming to Newbury, has applied for an alcohol licence.

Retailer B&M will be opening on London Road on Saturday, October 7.

The new store, which will fill the entire vacant unit at 121A London Road, applied to West Berkshire Council for the premises licence.

It is applying for permission to sell alcohol between its opening hours of 7am to 11pm, seven days a week.

Previous occupants of this unit include Pets at Home, Lidl and Topps Tiles.

All of these occupants have now closed and moved to premises elsewhere in the town.

B&M has also applied for planning permission to build a 4.8m high fence on the property to form an external garden centre compound.

Any person or authority can make a representation to the licensing authority, if they wish to do so.

Representations must be made in writing to Licensing at West Berkshire Council, Culture and Environmental Protection, Environmental Health & Licensing at its council offices on Market Street.

The deadline for representations is August 30.
