Newbury Manor Hotel sold to new owner

The hotel, which occupies the grade two-listed property off the banks of the River Kennet and River Lambourn in Newbury, was handed over to administrators at BDO LLP after Devon-based owners Heritage Properties and Hotels went bust.
However, almost immediately, the hotel - along with another property, Churston Court, in Devon - were snapped up by a third party buyer, the identity of whom has yet to be revealed.
BDO business restructuring partner, Danny Dartnaill, however, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to find buyers for Newbury Manor Hotel and Churston Court Hotel, saving 59 jobs and preserving those businesses for the long term.
“The purchasers have agreed to honour all venue and event bookings, including weddings, to ensure that there is minimal disruption to clients.”
Heritage Properties and Hotels also previously owned The Crab at Chieveley which has recently been purchased by Cirrus Inns, which is now seeking permission to erect timber pergolas on the external terrace at the pub.
The hotel chain also owned The Park House Hotel in Shropshire, for which a buyer has not yet been found.
