Newbury man celebrates working milestone
Terry Kempster celebrated 50 years of working at Newbury Electronics this week
A MAN celebrated 50 years of working at Newbury Electronics this week.
Terry Kempster, aged 65, joined the company straight from school as a 15-year-old in 1961 where he has risen through the ranks to become the firm's line manager.
Mr Kempster, who lives with his wife Marion in Westwood Road, Greenham, said: "I suppose it is unusual now for someone to work for the same firm for 50 years, but I never really wanted to leave and go anywhere else.
"I have always enjoyed coming into work, we are like one big family, with lots of brothers, sisters, husbands and wives working together here.
"They haven't seen the back of me yet."
Mr Kempster met his wife at the company 43-years-ago and his daughter, Tanya, has now also joined the company.
Managing director at the London Road Industrial Estate company, Kevin Forder, said: "It's amazing in this day and age to have someone working for the same firm, man and boy, for half a century."
The firm is rewarding his loyalty by treating Mr and Mrs Kempster to an all-expenses paid two-week holiday in Cyprus in September.
